When chains are used for lifting, they need to be traceable, fit-for-purpose, and proven safe before use. Altezza provides professional chain testing for construction companies, lift contractors, and industrial sites, combining inspection, proof testing, tagging, and clear certification so your gear is site-ready and audit-ready.

Based in Oakleigh South and servicing Melbourne and broader Victoria, we support projects that demand fast turnaround, practical coordination, and documentation that stands up on site.

What We Test and Inspect

We test and certify a wide range of lifting and rigging equipment, including:

  • Chain slings (single, two-leg, multi-leg assemblies)

  • Dogleg chains and special chain assemblies

  • Chain blocks

  • Fabric slings

  • Gerder clamps

  • Harnesses

If you're unsure whether an item can be proof-tested, send through a photo or an email, and our team will confirm the safest path forward.

Why Chain Testing Matters

Chains operate in harsh conditions, shock loading, abrasion, corrosion, side-loading, and incorrect rigging all shorten service life. Routine chain sling testing helps you:

  • reduce the risk of equipment failure

  • keep crews safe and sites compliant

  • maintain consistent lifting performance

  • Stay ready for principal contractor and safety audits

  • extend usable life by identifying issues early

  • compliance with safety regulations

Our Chain Testing Method

We run chain testing as a controlled process with clear traceability and documentation:

  1. Identification & intake – item ID recorded (and created if missing)

  2. Pre-test inspection – visual condition check (wear, stretch, deformation, damage)

  3. Proof load test – controlled testing appropriate to the chain type and rating

  4. Post-test inspection – confirm integrity after test loading

  5. Tagging & certification – issue documentation and label/tag items for site use

Certification, Tagging & Asset Registers

Chain testing is only useful if the paperwork is clear and usable on-site.

You can request:

  • test certificates per item (PDF)

  • tagged/identified items for quick site checks

  • optional logbook or asset register format to match your internal system (if provided with your logbook in editable format)

Standards & Compliance

Altezza's approach is built around practical site compliance and recognised industry expectations. We align testing and certification to relevant Australian Standards and site requirements, including standards commonly referenced for lifting devices and safe use (such as AS 4991, AS 1418 and AS 2550).

For chain slings, the industry commonly references AS 3775 as the applicable standard for lifting applications (where applicable to the equipment presented).

If your site has additional principal contractor rules (register formats, tag styles, testing intervals, or documentation requirements), we can align the deliverables so you don't get knocked back at the gate (Additional charges may apply).
